Test Results

How do I receive my results?

You may recieve a letter, text or phonecall if the doctor has requested an appointment to discuss your results.

Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can contact us anyday after 2pm to query what action the GP has recommended for your results.

I would like a copy of my results.

If you require a full copy of your test results: we have a request form available in reception. It may take up to a week for these results to be ready to be collected.

I have recieved a letter following my recent test.

You may recieve a letter from the practice following your recent results. These letters are for you to arrange a routine appointment to discuss the result. These are not results to be worried, or concerned about, and are a routine matter.

Please ring any day at 10:30am to arrange a routine appointment with the GP.

Low Folate

Folic acid, together with vitamin B12, is necessary to form red blood cells. A deficiency of folic acid can reduce the ability of red blood cells to carry oxygen. This is called ‘macrocytic’ (large cell) anaemia.

Low Iron

Your body needs iron for muscle development during growth and to transport oxygen in healthy blood. Iron requirements vary, so careful choices are particularly important for some people.

Raised Cholesterol

Cholesterol is a fatty substance found in your blood. It is produced naturally in the liver. We need some cholesterol to stay healthy. It is used to make certain hormones and vitamin D, as well as bile acids, which help digest and absorb dietary fat.

Low Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is a nutrient that helps keep your body’s blood and nerve cells healthy and helps make DNA, the genetic material in all of your cells. Vitamin B12 also helps prevent megaloblastic anemia, a blood condition that makes people tired and weak.

Prediabetes

Prediabetes is when blood glucose levels are raised but do not reach the threshold for diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes.

Low Vitamin D

Vitamin D helps your body take in calcium and phosphorus, which are needed for healthy teeth and bones. It also assists your immune system to fight infections, supports nerve function, and helps maintain muscle strength to prevent falls.
